Really good collection of recordings from the Kurdish people music, covering parts of the mountainous regions of modern Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Armenia. Liner notes by author Christian Poché explains us that it belongs to the same musical family as Persian music, but is based on the use of the pentacord, and that these songs portray "unrequited love, heroic adventures, and emotional healing".
