Parisian imprint Association Fatale (recently relocated to Central America) makes a come-back in the physical world after a series of digital only releases with this tape, the third entry in the "Don't Panic" series. Club or club-adjacent music that makes the bridge between Europe and South America, both sonically speaking (it's heavily under the influence of Brazilian Funk) and cast-wise (it features musicians from South America). Quite the snapshot of what’s exciting in the mid-20’s left field club scene - in Paris and beyond! 

 As usual with Association Fatale, the road is definitely not the one most traveled by: it's not necessarily long, but extremely windy. The compilation is emotionally staggering, oscillating between club euphoria and a very profound form of urban melancholy, a constant movement within the tracklist (lazza gio's upbeat vocoder ballad "main dans le sac", bluntly contrasting with ellaborada & Rxfx's agressively stomping "Sex Symbol") but also within the tracks themselves.

Apart from helen island and lazza gio, all contributors's names were unknown to me. That wouldn't surprise me much if I did not feel closely connected to the label, but that's just a testimony of how maniacally Belec (the head of Association Fatale) has been digging the soundcloud web for new names, new sounds - perhaps even new genres? Don't Panic 3 is a giant bittersweet ice cream that tastes of micro-internet trends, which in my mouth is certainly not a bad thing (what isn't a micro internet trend in 2026?). If all songs have strong virtual qualities (445.ceo's "lovestrong" recalls early SOPHIE and PC Music), they also quite clearly hints at modern dancefloors and addresses the body, eventually revitalizing collective imagination surrounding (free) parties.
