Split mixtape by Office PSR's Tom Val (Les Disques Omnison) and friend Pablo Mirón from Miradasvacas fame and Ediciones Fontenebro (his beautiful Madrid-based archival label). 2 x 45 min dives into their musical influences and, in Tom's own words, their collection of "outsider psycheographic music". Highly recommended, of course!
Quite a bewitching couple of mixes: obscure, and free in a way that allows the two musicians to mesh Jordi Savall with obscure handbell covers, Lamonte Young's drones and unidentifiable field recordings seamlessly. A travelogue that takes us through Europe's desolate landscapes, leaving Antwerp's gargantuan station by train, passing by empty plains, gothic bell-towers and Charleroi's steel-mill, eventually reaching places as opaque and historically dense as those recalled by Austerlitz and other W.G. Sebald's characters. The outcome is rather bleak, but shouldn't it be, as the Old Continent looks more and more like its fantasy depictions in Lars Von Trier's early Europa Trilogy? Definitely seasonal! (Mint/New - 1 per customer please!)
