Metta World Peace - The Sun Will Inherit The Earth

Deardogs - LP

France, 2026

Ambient / Psychedelic / Folk

"More than seven years after "Zanclean", his first (and only) release on the now-defunct French label Collapsing Market, MWP is back with a beautifully atmospheric album featuring an international cast of talented musicians and artists. Metta World Peace (not to be confused with the American basketball player/hip-hop musician) is the musical moniker of French filmmaker Pierre- Édouard Dumora, whose work has been shown in several cultural institutions such as Centre Pompidou (Paris), Yale Art Gallery (New Haven), or Locarno film festival (Switzerland). He has created several original soundtracks for his movies, a practice which heavily influences his own musical releases : MWP's music has been linked (almost) strictly to visuals (film, AV shows, visual installations. ..) for over 15 years now. On "The Sun Will Inherit The Earth", however, the composition process was completely different. The songs are based primarily on field recordings of wind made in the last few years. The album took shape as a collection of ideas and encounters, creating an unclassifiable and unpredictable sound : one could label it ambient, folk, rock or dub, without it ever fitting the exact molds for any of those genres. Assembling saxophone parts (played by his son, Orphée), guitar sketches, electronic sounds, field recordings, drums (played by musician Michael Speers), and vocal samples, "TSWITE" alternates between luminous, psychedelic and dreamy moments, accentuated by the vocal contributions of Thomas Bush, fetva (High Heal's founder and DJ) and mosca muerta (MWP's partner in organising the "I've seen the future" events in Paris between 2014 and 2019)." (M/M - wholesale: shops, contact us)
